The Best Time to Schedule Your Newborn Photos
The best time to schedule your newborn session is while you are still pregnant, and the earlier the better! Photographers typically book up early, and when you schedule your newborn session while you are still pregnant, it ensures that your first choice photographer will still have room in their schedule for you! Personally, I only schedule a certain amount of newborn sessions a month so that I know I have the time to schedule all of them. You might be wondering how you schedule a newborn session if we don't know the exact day you will deliver. It's easy - when you book a newborn session with me, I put your due date in my calendar as a placeholder. After you deliver and are settled at home, you send me a quick message and then we schedule a time within the next couple days for a time that works for both of us! The majority of newborn sessions takes place within the first two weeks of birth, so plan early and schedule your newborn session!
Does Your Newborn Session Need to Take Place in the First Two Weeks After Birth?
Nope, you don't have to schedule your newborn photos for the first few weeks. The first few weeks is when the majority of newborn photos take place because that is when your baby is still in their mostly sleepy phase. When you schedule your session for when your newborn is older than two weeks, it just means that your newborn will likely be more aware and awake during your session. It's totally doable, but you will likely have a lot more images of your baby awake than asleep, which is still beautiful.
Can You Still Schedule a Newborn Session After You Deliver?
What if you forgot to schedule your newborn photos while you were pregnant, or didn't even think to schedule a newborn session while you were pregnant, can you still schedule a newborn session? Yes, of course! If you have already delivered and want to schedule a newborn session, you can absolutely still inquire. It might mean we have to schedule the session a week or two from the time you book, but I always try to fit in newborn sessions because I know what an important milestone they are.
