Being a Pittsburgh family photographer means that I get to photograph at so many beautiful locations. And I love when I get to use locations in the city. If you live in Pittsburgh, you know that the city has a variety of beautiful parks. Mellon Park is one of those parks, and is a very popular photography spot for many reasons - one of which is because it is just so versatile. There's a walled garden, a fountain, and also open space. I was so excited to do this sweet family session here, and we had an absolutely beautiful night for it. OK - on to the session! This family of three was so much fun. I got to take this family's photos last fall, and am always so honored to get to photograph families as they grow. Last year, their son wasn't even walking and now he is running around everywhere and has the sweetest personality. It's one of the best parts of my job.
The little guy is in that toddler phase where standing still is no fun at all, and where he just wants to run everywhere - which is perfect for a lifestyle family photo session! My main goal is not to keep children and toddlers still - but to move! To capture your family's personality - not just a still, smiling picture. Family photos with a toddler can be challenge if they are expected to not act like a child. What do I mean by that? I mean that I don't expect young children to stand still, smile when told, and basically not be a child. It's my humble opinion that family photos are so much more special when kids are able to just be kids! And we get those pictures by having your child play - to be a kid! You'd be surprised how many great pictures are taken of the "in-between" moments, of the chaos. It's my favorite.
